Residents of city of Sydney rejoiced last night after NSW’s win over Queensland, briefly letting their celebrations reach over 100 decibels before the venues ejected their residents statewide.
This comes after the renewed and charged up Blues side took a lead in the first of the three game series with an impressive 22-12 win over the Queensland Maroons in Melbourne.
The rapturous celebrations lasted nearly half an hour, before the clock struck ten and the states watering holes turfed punters out, as required by state regulations.
While some fans in Sydney tried to carry on the celebrations in the driving rain out on the street, police were on hand to issue a large number of fines to anyone making noise or loitering.
The win, which many in the southern state are foolishly referring to as the beginning of a new Origin dynasty, is believed to have resulted in nearly 7,500 noise complaints in Sydney’s CBD, Inner West, North Shore and Eastern Suburbs.
One Queensland fan weighed in on the Better State Debate telling us that the appalling quality of nightlife was the only thing that cheered him up last night.
Andy Thompson, said; “We have ruined one of the natural wonders of the world, our economy is in shambles, unemployment is rife and we no longer have the Smart State on our number plates, but for the last decade or so we have had Origin. And that was all that mattered.”
“But now, we haven’t even got that. The only positive of last night is that I was forced to go home before I got to pissed and teed off on some smarmy fucking investment banking Sydneysider.”
“Anyway. 8 in a row. Fuck em,” the Queenslander said.
The Premier of NSW Gladys Berejiklian told the Advocate that she was so happy about the win that she may even call some of the property developers who run the state and ask for an exemption to the regulations.
“Yep, that’s right. If I’m going to test the water with Barry Rigaboff and some of the boys and see if we can have an extra hour added onto the curfew if NSW win the series in a couple of weeks time,” she said.
