South Australian wine regions are reportedly in a panic today, and it isn’t necessarily because the Prime Minister has failed to hose down growing hostilities with our largest export market because it’s much easier, from a marketing viewpoint, to blame the growing Melbourne aged care deaths on China for inventing this virus, than it is to admit his government is struggle to control it.

It’s because they fear thousands of this year’s produce will have to poured down the drain due to a sharp spike in sour grapes being recorded across Adelaide and surrounds.

This comes as AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan confirmed that Brisbane’s iconic Gabba will make sporting history next month when it hosts the AFL grand final – for the first time the premiership decider has been played outside of Victoria.

With the Melbourne Cricket Ground no longer an safe option to host the decider due to the second wave of coronavirus, the AFL on has today announced a venue switch for one of the most-watched Australian sporting events of the year.

The crowds will be capped to roughly 30,000 spectators in Brisbane, providing that the current outbreak remains under control in the River City

The game will also be played at night for the first time, so that Queensland can take full advantage of all of the fireworks they had previously bought for Riverfire.

This announcement has caused grapes right across South Australia to soure, with Green Senator Sarah Hanson-Young even going as far as moving a motion in Parliament to highlight Adelaide’s readiness to host ‘The Big Dance’.

McLaren Vale winemaker, Bodie Cinda-Barrels says this is very bad news for his industry.

“Every where we look, there’s sour grapes”

“First the bushfires, then the lockdown, now this….”

“And Port Adelaide was at the top of the ladder too”

“waaa waaa waaa” he said, as he whinged like a baby.

Our interview was then cut short, because the South Australian man we were speaking to was acting like a little sook.

MORE TO COME.
