With a couple of weeks left of the 2021 NRL season, the writing is now crystal clear on the wall for the Wests Tigers.

Win and a few results must go their way if they want to finish one spot outside the 8 again.

“We know what we have to do, and we are going to do everything we can to get the result this club deserves,” said coach Michael Maguire this week after the Tigers extended the longest finals drought in football amongst current teams.

Following the disappointment of finishing 11th last year, the joint venture from Sydney had spent the offseason months talking about a re-build and a new season.

However, with two rounds left, the club is now facing the prospect of missing out on 9th spot once again.

The club that used to hold a mortgage on the first spot outside finals, says it will be making a strong push to finish on a high.

“Initially we failed to grab a spot in the top 8 early on in the season to allow the inevitable slide necessary to secure 9th,” said Maguire.

“So we’ve got our work cut out for us now.”

“But, I know this group has what it takes to come home strong when there’s nothing to play for,” said the coach of a club who is incapable of winning must-win games.

“So it’s all to play for!”

“Let’s go Tigers”

More to come.
