The state Of Queensland is in shock today, after the news that Origin legend Cameron Smith will be retiring immediately for reasons yet unknown.

Cameron Smith will announce his retirement from State of Origin at a media announcement in several minutes, would mean the Maroons captain would join Cooper Cronk and Johnathan Thurston in being unavailable for Queensland this year.

It’s understood Smith told his Storm teammates of his decision on Tuesday morning. Smith has played a record 42 Origin matches for Queensland.

Apart from one match he missed in 2008 when Matt Ballin wore the No.9 jersey, Smith has not missed an Origin series since making his interstate debut in 2003.

Toowoomba tractor sales rep, Barny, says this is fucken fucked.

“We’ve got two years left in him surely. What the fuck?

“Why?”

“What is happening? What?”

This news means the The Maroons would be highly unlikely to consider the left-field option of switching Ben Hunt to hooker and using Michael Morgan in the halves alongside Cameron Munster.

Barbara, a hair beauty specialist from Beaudesert says this is crush news.

“What’s going on?”

“This has come out of the blue, I’m not happy about it!”

“Why?!”

Greg Inglis is the likely option to replace Smith as Queensland captain.
