The Sydney Rooster’s late inclusion to the 2020 squad is still yet to reach his 2004, or even 2012, potential when it comes to inflicting the most physical pain legally allowed on a rugby league field.
Sonny Bill Williams impressed in his brief appearances for the boys from Bondi over the last two matches, namely in the 42-12 victory over the Newcastle Knights at the SCG on Saturday night.
Sonny Bill, who clocked seven passes, three offloads, one line break, 62 metres gained in 11 carries and 19 tackles, is still yet to ‘Sonny Bill’ someone this season.
So far, in the 47 minutes of NRL football he has played in 2020, fans are yet to be treated to the famous ‘armless tackle’ he pioneered during his time with the Canterbury-Bankstown ‘Dogs Of War’ at the turn of the Millennium.
Questions have arisen within the NRL community over why nobody has been rendered unconscious by the benchwarming Kiwi this season.
“What’s the point of Sonny Bill being back in the NRL if he isn’t turning people off like a Windows Vista reboot” said local Doggies fan, Moey Greenacre.
“I feel sick watching a Roosters match for no reason. Sicker than I would if I got tackled by Sonny Bills” said Rabbitohs fan, Eveleigh Street.
“Politis promised us several explosive HIAs by this point” said another disgruntled Knights fan, Stew Castle.
“I wouldn’t have minded being beaten by that margin if I got to see Josh King get 2004’d”
