Shadow Minister for Veterans Affairs Barnaby Joyce has updated his register of interests to reflect that he and manager Scooter Braun have parted ways.

Braun is one of the most influential contemporary music managers and has recently lost other high profile clients Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato. Mr Joyce’s departure is the latest to rock the American pop titan. Braun appears to retain clients including Carly Rae Jepsen, Quavo of Migos, David Guetta, Black Eyed Peas, Ava Max and Troy Buswell.

Speaking to The Advocate this afternoon, Barnaby said the parting of ways came at the right time for both parties.

“Oh you know, Scooter has been a close mate for years but my career is going in a different direction,” said Joyce.

“I first met Scooter when he asked me for help regarding Usher’s income tax returns. I was just a small town accountant in St George then but he found me on YouTube back when I was doing explainers about how to take the piss regarding fringe benefit tax and creating a discretionary trust to dodge some of the harsher tax implications of being a primary producer in this country. He plucked me from internet obscurity and made me a deputy Prime Minister,”

“He was a great help too when I went to war with Johnathon Christopher Depp and his charming wife Amber Heard. You know, after I said I was going to have Pistol and Boo shot then cremated, it was Scooter who was in my corner. He told me to just do it. To just send some policeman in there to shoot the dogs. I didn’t listen to that part but you know, Americans like shooting things big and small,”

“When I lost my job because I was allegedly a Kiwi, it was Scooter who sat with me in the Walcha Road Hotel those nights. It was Scooter who helped me with hāngī out the back of the pub. It was Scooter who used to get my keys and throw them up on the roof of the pub so I wouldn’t drive home,”

“He’s been a good mate but it’s time.”

The Advocate reached out to Mr Baun’s management for comment but has yet to receive a reply.

More to come.
