There’s no denying the recent lockdowns have been hard on businesses of all shapes and sizes (with the exception of the large businesses that made a profit due to JobKeeper).

One such segment that had to cease business entirely are the pubs and clubs across mainland South-East Australia who had to close their doors for up to five months of the year.

Luckily for the newly reopened RSLs it took only two minutes for their pokies to recoup all the money they lost during the pandemic.

“Pokies have always been a sort of insurance for us, we just didn’t know it was pandemic insurance,” stated RSL manager Morgan Royce.

“After five months of fuck-all we are extremely relieved that our loyal pokie warriors were setting aside a little nest egg just for us.”

Royce states they were anticipating an influx of pokie feeders making up for lost time upon reopening, but did not imagine all of their losses would be recouped in just two minutes.

“We thought it would take closer to five to ten minutes.”
