A suburban man who loves his American sports has alleged today that his interest in the sport has nothing to do with punting large amounts of money on the outcome of games for reasons he’s not even sure of.

Taking time out of his busy day of selling office equipment before heading down to a local pub, Byron Haliday said he’s into gridiron, basketball, hockey and baseball and he knows each team and competition intimately.

But he found the sports organically and isn’t interested in gambling on them.

Which is why, the 32-year-old says, he never puts obscene amounts of money on bets such as LeBron getting more than ten rebounds against the Wizards.

“I just love the hype of the games that serve as the backdrops to commercial breaks.”

Or Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow to throw 3 touchdowns against the LA Rams in today’s Superbowl.

“I don’t know why I like them, I just do.”

“I’d bet on games of rugby league or cricket,” he said.

“But with the NBA, I just enjoy the stats and all that stuff.”

“There’s just something about American sport that makes me interested in it.”

More to come.
