Country boy Kelvin Lieschke (22) has shown his true colours. During a friendly dinner at a Chinese restaurant, Lieschke became overwhelmed by the unfamiliar menu items and opted for the Lucky Dragon fish and chips.
“It was on the menu so I ordered it. What’s hard to understand about that?”
It is speculated that the ordering of the fish and chips triggered a small smirk from the matron who took the order and sources have confirmed laughter was shared around the table as their beloved country boy lived up to his stereotype.
Reports state the murmur of table side giggles already hung in the air as Lieschke chose to wear a high-vis polo shirt to dinner despite not having done any farm work that day.
“Yeah and when he ordered the fish and chips it was just the icing on the cake really.”
Lieschke has gone on the record to defend his decision, stating the menu items were unfamiliar to him and he didn’t want to order something he wouldn’t like.
“I’m just not used to it. There’s no Chinese shop in Rand so I’ve never been before. I think there’s a Chinese in Albury but I don’t want to know about it.”
“Look, it’s on the menu I ordered it and it was good. OK?”
However, friends of Lieschke says his defence is no excuse.
“The menu items aren’t exactly ambiguous really. What’s hard to understand about ‘duck in plum sauce?’”
While Lieschke admits he may have panicked, he says it’s not curtains on his oriental food adventures just yet.
“Next time I’ll try something else, I really will. Maybe something authentic like this beef and blackbean I keep hearing about.”
More to come.
