TWO THARGOMINDAH AREA station hands were arrested in the early hours of this morning after the pair kicked a cash register down a flight of stairs and threatened police and hotel security staff. It’s understood by police that upon the bouncer checking their IDs as they entered The Black Cat nightclub in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, he asked the jackaroos to “be on their best behaviour” while in the establishment.
It wasn’t until the duo left that things began to go pear-shaped.
Police will allege that when the bouncer said to 24-year-old Hank Coleman that he was glad he hadn’t gotten up to any mischief while at the premises, Coleman booted a cash register down the stairs at the front of the club. The Black Cat is situated on level one above the street and the register is atop the stairs beside the cloakroom to collect the modest cover charge needed to gain access to the venue.
Black Cat owner Adam Scallop said that the contents of the cash register was essentially a dead loss, amounting to almost a thousand dollars.
“From what I understand, one of my security staff made a smart remark to the accused as he was leaving and then he’s gone and kicked the cover charge till down the stairs,”
“Money showered the people as they waited on the stairs and outside.” said Scallop. “On top of that, the register itself and the table it was on has also gone down the stairs and injured two people.”
Mr Coleman’s co-accused, a 25-year-old Blackall native by the name Emmet Adavale, was arrested alongside Hank after telling police he’d “get them” if they didn’t let go of his mate.
“The charges are bullshit. Hank’s getting done for GBH [Grievous Bodily Harm] because the register landed on some poon’s foot and broke it. What a fucking sook.” said Mr Adavale.
“Meanwhile, I got pinged for telling some cop to let go of Hank. In my defence, I was absolutely shit-faced and had I known I was talking to a policewoman, I would’ve used my manners,”
“Fuck me dead. Let the boys play.”
The “Thargo Pair”, as local media have dubbed them, are scheduled to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court next month.
