FORMER PM JULIA Gillard stunned onlookers at the Melbourne Racing Club on Tuesday as she picked the First 4 runners and netted herself a cool $188 840.

Her $10 flutter turned in to one of the biggest wins in Cup history.

In what’s been heralded as one of the greatest moments in Australian sport, Ms Gillard proceeded to spend all of her winnings at the bar – shouting everybody in the pavilion.

When Ms Gillard appeared yesterday at the State funeral for Gough Whitlam, she was criticised for looking a little underdressed and under the weather.

Other funeral guests took offence to the dark stains and pungent Bundaberg aroma wafting from the Welsh-born politician.

Ms Gillard refused to comment as she attended the funeral, saying only that “what happens on Cup day, stays on Cup day.”

One member of the Melbourne Racing Club says that the former PM nonchalantly scanned her ticket and was taken back when she found out what she’d won.

“She necked the last bit of her Coopers Stout then told the barmen to open the bar,” says one punter.

“There were women drinking Midori like it was wine,”

“Men were urinating in plain sight,”

“It was chaos.”

  1. Oh please…this article is ridiculous. Julia is allowed to celebrate and get drunk (not that I would do the same after winning). There would certainly be no mention of this if she were a man. You think male politicians don’t get wasted all the time? I know quite a few of them and trust me they most certainly do.
Also, I highly highly doubt that Julia would rock up to the funeral smelling of bourbon. That is the most ludicrous statement. Shame on you for buying into the already overly biased media in Australia. Shame on you.

  2. What is wrong with former PMs enjoying a few bevvies at the races? It’s a basic human right, like being a bigot. Lay of Juliar. Shame Betoota Advocate, shame.

  3. So this is what she spends our money on , She gambled with the country and lost when she stabbed Fudd in the back and now she gambles with our hard earned money she walked away with , She is a disgusting person .
