In an interesting turn of events, the Betoota Advocate would like to announce this morning that both our editors Errol Parker and Clancy Overell will be joining the 2GB presenter stable, just two weeks after our bold transition into online podcasts

Last weekend saw the Betoota Advocate website briefly crash due to the hysteria surrounding our debut podcast.

Our synopsis on both the Adam Goodes saga and a follow-up on the 2015 Splendour In The Grass festival struck a cord with international audiences, after being picked up by Arabic news and current affairs satellite TV channel, Al Jazeera.

In just under four hours, our website hosted over 22 million unique visitors from all across the world. Just short of the entire Australian population.

Following the success of last weekend’s “Wireless Weekly News Wrap” the Betoota Advocate returned the airwaves again on friday night! With the “Wireless Weekly News Wrap II”.

This time, Australia was listening as well (you can too, below)

The second podcast, which according to Soundcloud had the highest amount of listeners for any Australian generated audio content last weekend, was picked up by several executives from 2GB radio. Within hours both Errol Parker and Clancy Overell were on a flight to Sydney to talk contracts with 2GB.

While negotations continue, both Macquarie Radio and The Betoota Advocate can confirm that contracts have been signed with no confirmation on a specific program slot, many speculate both Errol and Clancy will replace Steve Price in the evenings.

Clancy Overell has stated that the editorial team will remain in Queensland’s Channel Country and will record each show from out there.

“It’d be silly not too. We 100% intend on keeping up our day jobs. In fact, it’s quite distressing knowing that we are actually taking a backward step in terms of technology,”

“We have all grown up on Macquarie radio, so of course we were keen to join them, but it was a little disappointing knowing that our presenting was now confined to a medium that peaked in 1978,”

“A.M talkback is a bit more limiting than SoundCloud or iTunes – but having Mercedes Benz as a sponsor was enough to make us look past that!”

Radio Magnate and a former hands-on CEO, John Singleton, has told news.com.au that he was surprised to see the direction 2GB content directors had chosen to go, as he initially believed The Betoota Advocate might be a bit “too conservative”.
