PEOPLE AROUND THE world are going batshit crazy for Jarryd Hayne today after he made three great punt returns in a game against the Dallas Cowboys yesterday.
From Minto to Maine, the Hayne Plane has captivated the world with his journey from one of the greatest rugby league players of all time to possible NFL benchwarmer.
The 27-year-old has even found new fans as far flung as Reykjavík and Bhutan, as hundreds of people took to the streets with signs and chants overnight all in support of the gridiron journeyman.
Judging by the current online hysteria, it is believed Jarryd Hayne now holds the title as the most popular sportsman in Australia and, most likely, America as well.
Renowned sports Harvard-based Historian, Babe Franklin, says he won’t be surprised if Jarryd Hayne has the rights to his own Nike shoe by the end of the month.
“He is the most marketable sportsman in the world, hands-down,”
“Bigger than Jordan, Tyson, LeBron… bigger than them all combined,”
“And when you look at his performances on the field, in both NRL and NFL, he is also one of the most talented sportsmen to walk this earth. It blows my mind.”
Reactions of Hayne’s latest performance were summed up by the commentary team, who were quick to declare that the Australia was indeed playing well.
“Punts haven’t been this exciting here for a long time,” one commentator said.
“If you thought he made a statement last week, he’s also playing OK this game,”
“It’s not hard to add him to your football team.”
The remarks made by one of his reserve coaches also echoed the sentiments of the commentators, who said Hayne played well.
49er’s Offensive Punting Reserve Coach Scott Cashew said that Jarryd Hayne is kicking goals and slamming dunks.
“Yeah. He’s had a good couple games,” he said.
“I like his progress. He’s doing exactly what’s expected of him. He played pretty well,”
“But I’m going to leave all speculation up to Fox Sports Australia. Everytime Hayne plays, they can afford to put Nutella in the staff room.”
“It’s a career-maker, to be given the go-ahead to write a Jarryd Hayne story. Those journalists can make their monthly quota in half an hour.”
