With Murdoch’s firm grip on the minds of Australia waning after a devastating result for his side of politics, the billionaire media mogul has decided to shift gears and hark back to some of his retro tricks.
In an attempt to re-engage with working class Australia, Murdoch has announced he will be re-launching the Super League.

Murdoch’s Super League was a breakaway rugby league competition launched in the mid-1990s as part of a bitter corporate battle for broadcasting rights, triggering the infamous “Super League war” that split the sport in two and saw the two leagues battle for the hearts and minds of everyday rugby league fans.

While the Super League didn’t last long, it placed Murdoch in a powerful position in the new merger league, a position he hopes to rekindle with the launching of Super League II.

The new league which will include the old Super League sides of Adelaide Rams and the Illawarra Stealers, will also include some new clubs with absolutely zero culture of history.

“The Central Coast has been crying out for a Rugby League team for decades, which is why we have decided to launch the Central Coast Bikies” , said a spokesperson for NewsCorp.

Other reported clubs in the new breakaway league will be the North Sydney Au Pairs, the Penrith Pokie Machines and in a last minute announcement, the Byron Bay Bongs.

Critics are calling Murdoch’s power play ludicrous when the NRL is in a fairly stable and financially strong position, but the billionaire disagrees.

“I’m clearly losing my grip on the minds of Millennials, Gen Z and working class Australians who insist on using social media for news and entertainment instead of my mouth pieces.”

“This is sure to put my media right back in the minds of these lost demographics” Murdoch stated.
