A leaked Treasury document has revealed a number of recommended outcomes for Jim Chalmers’ current dinner plans.
Spag bol appears to be at the top of the agenda for the Treasurer, who cannot seem to make a decision that hasn’t been somehow leaked to the media and debated by the Australian media and wider public weeks before he announces it.
It is not known if this is 100% what Chalmers has planned for dinner, or how this will be received by his family, but the the idea has been run up the flagpole as maybe a possibility?
The document, seen by the ABC, shows advice from Treasury to pick up some carrots, onions, garlic, beef and pork mince on the way home.
It also recommends decent measures of canned tomatoes – and weirdly, a splash of milk.
As the Federal Opposition and the nation’s media scrutinise Chalmers decision the middle class Australian favourite, the real judge of whether this is a good idea is the Australian voters – who will either be responding positively or poorly to this decision to eat a spag bol for dinner, and pending on the social media response, may just be the reason it eventuates into a full blown spaghetti bolognese coated in melted parmeson with a good dose of chilli oil and maybe even some garlic bread on the side.
However, Chalmers is yet to confirm that this is what he ACTUALLY wants for dinner. So far, the idea of spag bol for dinner exists only as a leaked document that the ABC has seen, and reported on diligently, regardless of whether it ever it gets dished up.
A spokesman for Treasurer Jim Chalmers said the government was consulting widely and broadly on possible recipes ahead of the family round table tonight.
“We aren’t pre-empting ideas for a feed, but Treasury is preparing for a big old spag bol as you would expect,” the spokesman said.
