In news that validates the feelings of all Australian TV audiences, this year’s TV Week Logie Awards has confirmed that Fisk is really good shit.
Taking home five gongs from five nominations, Kitty Flanagan’s widely popular sitcom about the bumbling small-time suburban solicitor – Helen Tudor-Fisk – has cleaned up at the 2025 Logie awards.
It’s safe to say that nobody disagrees with this outcome, and anyone who does is not airing their opinions because they are arguably incorrect.
In it’s 3rd season, Fisk appears to have hit it’s straps, and has highlighted that Australian comedy is best left to the professionals – as the series punches well above it’s weight internationally with a low-fi cast of the nation’s best comedians.
It also explains why no other sitcom in this format works in Australia, because nobody can do it better than Flanagan.
This is the second time in a fortnight that Australians have felt this bizarre feeling of unanimous agreement.
It follows last week’s news that INXS – Never Tear Us Apart was voted number 1 in Triple J Hottest 100 Australians songs of all time.
In what can often be a contentious and controversial evening, very few Australians were surprised when “Fisk” won Best Scripted Comedy Program at Australian TV’s 65th night out of nights.
The series also nabbed two Silver Logies for Kitty Flanagan and Aaron Chen as Best Leads, while Julia Zemiro and Glenn Butcher were awarded the two Best Supporting Roles.
While the rest of Australian TV runs around in circles trying to appeal to made-up audiences that only appear to exist on social media, Fisk has proven that nothing beats an honest Australian sitcom that is written by and starring actual comedians.
Fisk is now frontlining the Australian TV renaissance alongside fellow ABC programmes like Bluey and Muster Dogs – but has also shown the world that local television productions can indeed go global without having to cast canines as lead characters.
