Former Opposition leader Peter Dutton has reportedly been unable to reach mining magnate Gina Rinehart today, with sources confirming that all calls are now being diverted straight to voicemail.
This comes after Dutton not only lost his bid to become Australia’s next Prime Minister but also his seat in Dickson – which means he no longer no serves any purpose to Gina Rinehart.
Despite growing quite close during his campaign, including attending Rinehart’s 70th birthday and her annual mining conference this year, it appears as though that friendship has now reached an end, now that Dutton no longer has the power to cut red tape and make Rinehart make even more money.
Sources close to Dutton say he became suspicious after his usual Sunday morning “strategy call” was declined several times, and that all his follow up messages disappeared – a sure sign he’d been blocked.
It’s alleged Australia’s richest woman is now looking for a new puppet, but with a ‘warmer public image’ and less of a tendency to alienate female voters.
Or just, you know, someone a little more, electable.
More to come.
