Betoota Ponds based allied health professional Tamara Hill (33) has had to sit down on a public bench and think about her life today.

The sitting and thinking comes after Hill visited Darryl and Cheryl Parsons’ Betoota Heights Newsagency to buy her weekly TattsLotto QuickPick.

Hill, who started buying QuickPicks approximately once a month late last year, has steadily built the habit into a weekly occurrence, one she does mostly on autopilot but still tends to enjoy nonetheless.

However, today after collecting her ticket to dream from a jovial Mrs Parsons, Hill’s unconscious enjoyment turned into a sickening realisation that will haunt her until the end of her days.

She realised that she has become her Mother.

For as long as Hill can remember, her Mum has been buying weekly TattsLotto QuickPicks.

While sitting on the public bench, Hill even realised that her very first memory was being pushed in the pram by Mum and visiting Darryl and Cheryl Parsons’ Betoota Heights Newsagency to buy a goddamn TattsLotto QuickPick.

Eye witness accounts hold that Hill sat on that public bench for well over 3 hours.

She remained unmoving, staring out into the middle distance and occasionally shaking her head.

When the power of speech returned to her, Hill confided in the Advocate that she and her Mother have never enjoyed the best of relationships, and she now worried that she herself had taken on some of the more terrifyingly manipulative and character traits that her Mother all too often used.

“Just because I get a weekly QuickPick doesn’t make me a monster, does it?” Hill asked our reporter with an existential fear deep in her chest.

“I’m not her!” she screamed.

“I’m not her!” she repeated before scrunching up the QuickPick and throwing it into the nearby rubbish bin.

“Never again!” she said with her head held high.

A minute or two after the distraught woman left the scene, our reporter collected the QuickPick from the bin and ended up winning Division 6 which was $26.55.
