Western Sydney UFC hero Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa has taken a break from the choccie milk in preparations for a career-defining UFC bout in the sport’s debut in France.
While this news is shocking in Australia, it has been received as absolutely unprecedented in Paris – a country known for somehow managing to incorporate chocolate into every meal.
However, the biggest news to hit the streets of Paris this week, aside from the city’s first ever UFC bout, is the fact that the streets surrounding Bercy’s Accor Stadium is currently stacked with rather large usos who look like they could pack a tidy scrum.
It has been reported that provincial French rugby recruits are hitting the cobblestones with gusto ahead of this weekend’s heavyweight bout – as half of western Sydney arrives in the city of love to cheer home Tuivasa against the hometown hero.
It is not known how much impact a bunch of late 20s to early 40s Samoan and Koori family members could provide to the French rugby system, however clubs are believed to be willing to pay top dollar to get their hands on someone who ‘can run through Le brick wall’.
While majority of the Tuivasa supporters are admittedly more acquainted with the grassroots rugby league programmes provided by the Penrith Panthers – many say this kind of talent can only be an improvement for the Frogs heading into the RWC.
At time of press, a group of Tuivasa’s direct relatives loitering outside a pub in downtown Paris had all just signed a collective employment contract for Montpellier Hérault Rugby – with promises to catch a bullet train down that way the day after the fight or whatever.
