A local problem gambler named Dale Hampson has been forced to innovate and think outside the box today it can be confirmed.
After a stinker of a day on the punt for the Betoota Heights engineer, the very eligible bachelor was hoping to recoup some of his losses.
However, that plan has come crashing down after the announcement that the Dapto Dogs is closing down immediately.
The iconic Dog track based in the Illawarra region of NSW for the last 82 years has been a popular punting track for many around the country.
The Dapto Agricultural and Horticultural Society decided to close the track after failing to reach an agreement with the State’s Governing body.
With a disposable income and hefty lifetime in the industry sized paycheque about to hit his account, the divorced father of 4 is now considering what to do without his ‘happy hunting ground.’
“Fuck, what a day,” said the 67-year-old in between mouthfuls of his $10 lunch steak down at Betoota Heights Tavern.
“Just a sad day for the country, for our history,” explained the man who went pretty hard on one of the pre-race favourites who didn’t place.
“They probably got a knock on the door from the PC Police and were forced to shut.”
Hampson explained that he’s terribly upset all of his insider knowledge and understanding of the popular South Coast track is now effectively useless.
“I guess I’ve just gotta start building up the book and the knowledge bank on something else now,”
He then asked us to leave because he had to get on some donkey at Grafton.
