With less than a week to go until the Wentworth byelection, the main candidates, as in the less laughable candidates, as in the Liberal candidate and an Independent candidate that everyone recognises from TV, are neck and neck in the polls.
Some analysts say that by ousting Prime Minister Turnbull, who had a stranglehold on what should be the safest Liberal seat in the entire country, and almost indefinitely sacrificing a win at the next election to appease the unwarranted ambitious and unexplainably powerful grip of former highway cop from Queensland with a 5% approval rating, the Liberal Party may have lost the interest of the wealthy elite from Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.
It is for this reason that the Liberal candidate for Wentworth, Dave Sharma, is looking outside the box when it comes to appealing to voters. Or in this particular case, outside the electorate.
With roughly 40% of Wentworth residents currently enjoying their annual Japanese skiing holidays at the Australian enclave of Niseko, the Liberal Candidate has flown directly to the absentee voting ballot, in a hope to appeal to the holidaying voters.
“Haha. I’m just like you guys” he was seen chuckling to passers-by.
“I too love taking unnecessarily long overseas holidays to the snow only a couple months before Christmas.”
“Vote for me if you want the assurance that you won’t ever have to compromise on this level of luxury”
It is believed this is the first stop on an unorthodox week-long campaign trail which will also see Sharma visiting voters in Noosa and Byron Bay.
