The remaining Western Force fans are in pieces this afternoon, following the announcement that the Perth rugby institution will no longer join the eastern cities in the professional competition.
The tried and trusted fans have supported the isolated rugby union franchise for 11 years, but most are shattered this afternoon by the news that the Western Force will exit from the Super Rugby competition.
A statement released by the club this afternoon stated that “Western Australia will retain an important place in Australian Rugby and the ARU will continue to support youth development programs and the community game in the West.”
“Our immediate concern is to support the individuals at the Western Force through these difficult circumstances and we will deploy various ARU management staff to Western Australia to provide assistance to all players and staff.”
It is believed that the fans may have been smashed into pieces by frustrated Western Force coaching staff, who have been led on by the likes of Twiggy Forrest with offers of financial support, David Pocock with vague hints to a return to the club, and the unrealistic belief that ARU players will be returning from Japan and France to help better the domestic competition.
“We just couldn’t sacrifice the Rebels” said ARU CEO Richard Pulver.
“It just wouldn’t make sense to. They are only new”
