The US Democrats are still reeling today, after being blindsided by the revelation that progressive politicians actually appeal to progressive voters.
This comes as one of the Democratic Party’s darlings, Andrew Cuomo, had his political career dashed by a 33-year-old socialist by the name of Zohran Mamdani – who has massively outperformed the former State Governor to snatch the party’s nomination for New York Mayor.
Both the American media and the Democrat establishment have put their shoulders to the wheel to undermine Mamdani’s campaign.
In fact, many would argue that they have used far more resources trying to stop this man’s political rise than they ever did trying to stop Donald Trump.
And it was all for nothing, as the dark horse leftie holds a 44-36 percent lead over Cuomo according to yesterday’s exit polls.
High-ranking Democrats remain rattled by the electoral success of a popular anti-war Muslim immigrant who campaigns on left-wing policies aimed at resolving growing social issues faced by traditional left-wing voters.
It’s led many to ask if maybe the Democratic establishment intentional destroyed the campaign of the popular anti-war Jewish immigrant who campaigned on left-wing policies aimed at resolving growing social issues faced by traditional left-wing voters in 2016.
Did the Democrats perhaps not have the nation’s best interests at heart when they weaponised anti-semitism and sectarianism to undermine Bernie Sanders in the 2016 primaries.
Were all of those claims that Bernie Sanders campaign was run by misogynistic communist radicals who hated assertive females possibly a little bit overexaggerated?
Could it be argued that perhaps the party’s top brass would have preferred to lose to Donald Trump with a war hawk establishment candidate like Hillary Clinton – rather than beating him with a genuinely left-wing alternative?
Is there a world where Bernie Sanders would’ve actually performed far better in the Democrat’s traditional working class strongholds? Could he have prevented these long forgotten voters from being seduced by for the sheer disruption of Trump? It’s hard to know, because the moment it became clear that they had abandoned the Democrats in 2016, those same heartland states were instantly dismissed as the racist and homophobic ‘rust belt’.
Americans will never know who would’ve won if Bernie Sanders was the 2016 candidate. But every single day since then they have been reminded of who won when he wasn’t.
