The fabled Blue and Golds of Central Western Sydney are this week celebrating another milestone.

The Parramatta Eels are enjoying their second piece of silverware for their second consecutive year.

Less than 6 months after taking home the famous Spoon Bowl at the end of last season (despite actually winning the Spoon Bowl but losing the Wooden Spoon); the Eels have now added the Lachlan Galvin Bowl to their very dusty trophy cabinet.

“Look, it’s a fantastic achievement for the club after a lean few decades,” explained coach Jason Ryles.

“Obviously until the end of last year the Eels hadn’t won anything since big fur coats were boss as hell, so to win two trophies in less than 12 months is just incredible.”

The latest achievement was the Lachlan Galvin Bowl, the Easter Monday match between the Wests Tigers and the Parramatta Eels.

Not just a round 7 game between the two rivals, the match was set to the backdrop of a high profile Wests Tigers junior who grew up in Parramatta kit revealing he wants to leave the merger side.

That news created a slew of headlines, with the Parramatta Eels leading the race to sign the talented 19-year-old on big money.

As a result, the inaugural Lachlan Galvin Bowl was created, in what may become an annual tradition moving forward.

Having already played each other twice this season, unless the pair somehow both make finals, the Tigers will have to wait until next year to try and reclaim the piece of silverware.

More to come.
