The US-based owner of over 70% of Australia’s media market has today aired his frustrations with the Leader Of The Opposition.
NewsCorp’s 94-year-old billionaire owner, Rupert Murdoch, says it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell Australians that the Liberal Party is the better option.
This comes as Peter Dutton backflips on his pre-election policy to force more public servants to return to the office, and abandons his Elon Musk-style plans to sack 40,000 public servants.
It appears that Dutton’s honest opinions do not make for very popular government policies, as recent opinion polls showed the Liberal Party haemorrhaging support from female voters.
The proposed ban on working from home was perceived as an attack on working mums, a demographic that the Liberals has previously suggested were ‘travelling Australia with their families in camper vans’ instead of actually doing any work.
Peter Dutton has today asked for forgiveness from female voters, as he walks back two of his party’s three policies, just four weeks out from a Federal election.
As it stands, the only policy that the Liberals are standing behind is the even more unpopular Nuclear Power Plan that is losing the support of regional voters at a rate of knots.
After weeks of gaffes and knee-jerk announcements, it appears that the Liberals are now dealing with bitter in-fighting – as Peter Dutton’s own colleagues begin leaking against him in an effort to distance themselves from him.
However, it’s not just Peter Dutton’s Liberal colleagues that are getting pissed off. His boss is also furious.
“Fuck you are not making this easy, Peter” said Rupert Murdoch, during their weekly phone call this morning.
“What the fuck is going on down there!?”
