The Indigenous Voice is already bringing our nation together, and Australians haven’t even voted on it yet.
This comes as every racist uncle and angry Sky News viewer around the country suddenly begin championing the views of former NRL star and boxer Anthony Mundine.
Speaking to Murdoch journalists on Sunday, the iconic Indigenous former athlete has urged Australians to vote No in the upcoming referendum, and has firmly backed the NO campaign.
Mundine earlier spoke out against the Voice and its “trickery” in an Instagram video this month.
“They want to take the sovereignty rights … basically it is a New World Order agenda to take over the land. They’re using trickery to make that happen,” he told his 30,000 Instagram followers.
With raw, emotive and contrarian views like that – it is no surprise that Sky News is suddenly platforming the views of a man that NewsCorp has spent the last twenty years ridiculing and smearing.
‘The Man’ Mundine now joins Jacinta Price and Warren Mundine as one of only three Indigenous community leaders to receive any air time on the upcoming referendum, as his views appear to match the same messaging spouted by Peter Dutton and Australia’s right-wing media in their desperate efforts to breath life in to a struggling Liberal Party who will likely be completely finished if this referendum is successful.
As an outspoken and free-thinking role model for Indigenous people, Anthony Mundine has endured nearly three decades as the butt of racist jokes and character assassinations from the same people who suddenly respect his opinion.
After never getting the opportunity to see Choc get humiliated in the ring, they are now being forced to swallow their pride and respect his opinion on a political issue – even if they think he’s a whinging sook when it comes to not playing the national anthem before his matches, or for his unconditional support for young Aboriginal athletes facing the same media persecution that he copped, or for his views on Australia Day.
Right around the country, bigoted and proud racists are currently championing Anthony Mundine’s comments, after praying for him to get knocked out cold in a boxing ring for the entire duration of his highly decorated boxing career. Which never happened.
