In some breaking news from Leichhardt, Balmain, Concord, Campbeltown and Ashfield – football is coming home.
That’s right, football is returning to it’s spiritual home – and we aren’t talking about that silly round ball that the rest of the world is in love with.
We are talking about the greatest game of all, the game of Rugby League.
The imminent return of football to its home comes after the Wests Tigers thrashed the North Queensland Cowboys 66-18 at a heaving Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night.
In the 200th game of future immortal Luke Brooks, the Tigers turned on a scintillating performance to leave the premiership hopefuls in the dust.
The win was the biggest in the history of the joint venture, and comes just a few weeks after absolute morons were tipping them to win the wooden spoon.
While they are level on points with current wooden spooners, the St George Illawarra Dragons, and only 3 points above them on points differential – the Tigers have won 3 of their last four games and are now absolute certainties to win the 2023 NRL Premiership trophy.
“We should save the engraver time and just get the trophy sorted now,” explained one local tigers fan named Scott Marshall.
“I’ve watched a lot of rugby league, and I genuinely cannot see how any other teams in the league can threaten them.”
“Stop the fight, it’s over.”
NRL boss Peter V’landys today reluctantly admitted to The Advocate that the Wests Tigers will win the comp, but for obvious reasons, the league will play out the rest of the season.
