A recent report by the School Of Social Sciences at the University Of Queensland has found that prominent late 1990s country pop singer, Shania Twain, had almost unattainably high standards for prospective lovers.
This reports comes as the world prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic Canadian singer’s single “That Don’t Impress Me Much” from her third studio album, Come On Over.
“What we have found is that Shania, while bold and independent, may have been almost delusional when it comes to her idea of a decent man” said lead UQ researcher, Professor Katie Origliasso.
“Like, it’s all good to not settle for just anyone, but really, a rocket scientist who looks like a combination of Brad Pitt and Elvis? Come on Shania”
Other findings from the report suggest that Shania Twain was also wildly inconsistent in what she believed was impressive.
“First she’s like, ‘wow you’re a rocket scientist, that don’t impress me much’ – which is pretty harsh… But then the next line she’s like ‘so, you’ve got a car’… Which actually isn’t that impressive” said Professor Origliasso.
“Surely those two things aren’t comparable”
Researchers says the lyricism of ‘Don’t Impress Me Much’ is particularly interesting because it was released in the same year as Mya’s ‘Ghetto Supastar’ which effectively describes the Rnb singer’s love of criminality, and men who basically need to nothing but be vaguely financially independent and reliable for her to love them.
“I wonder if Shania ended up in a relationship where they could rely on each other uh-huh, from one corner to another, uh-huh” said the researcher.
