High ranking Iranian officials have criticised the West’s commitment to the “Y2K” revival trend as America inches itself closer and closer towards being involved in another forever war – much like the ones that plagued the 2000s.
“I think you guys are going a bit far with your commitment to the bit”
“Yes, we get that the y2k trend is cute and all, but do you really need to revive it this hard?” explained a leading voice of the Iranian regime.
Fans of the Y2K revival, which saw an upsurge in early 2000s clothing, boy bands and consumerist collectables, say that the final piece of completing a full Y2K revival would be starting a decades long conflict with a Middle Eastern country on the grounds of preventing them from acquiring dangerous weapons.
“We’ve got a polarising Republican in office, a middle eastern country backed against a wall, it’s a no brainer really” said Felix Oakson (25) a fashion forward Gen-Z’er who’s obsessed with anything “Y2K”.
While fans of the Y2K movement are excited about the chance to recreate an era they were too young for, some older millennials are raising concerns.
“Ughh, do we really have to do this?”
“The 2000s really weren’t as good as Gen Z thinks” said Imogen Jones (39), followed by a deep sigh.
Experts now warn that if the trend continues, we could see nu-metal soundtracks playing over drone footage within weeks.
Australian “Y2K” enthusiasts are now hoping for a miracle, to have a Prime Minister that will follow America to the ends of the earth.
