A local woman has found herself in a weird paradox today, after coming to the realisation that her regular anti wrinkle injections don’t actually make her look younger, but the same age as all her mates, who too, get anti wrinkle injections.

Claire Linetti, 35, says she came to this conclusion after stumbling across a terrifying comment section in Tik Tok, which revealed young people don’t know what normal ageing looks like anymore – and not only do they seem unaware of it, but completely repulsed by it too.

“I saw this video of a woman who looked to be in her early thirties, but because she had a few wrinkles, everyone was telling her she looked fifty”, says Claire, shaking her head, “I think people are starting to lose track of what normal ageing looks like.”

Claire says these comments sent her into a bit of a tailspin, as she grappled with her decision to regularly get work done.

“I’m terrified of ageing, but I sometimes wonder if the act of getting tox isn’t very feminist of me”, she muses.

“It’s something that crosses my mind whenever I have an appointment. Like, am I just caving into the patriarchal belief that a woman’s value comes from looking youthful?”

“Why do I always feel such a rush of relief when I get the procedure done? Why does every sign of ageing, however small, feel like such a failure?”

“Why do I feel moral superiority whenever I see someone my age, who has more signs of ageing than me?”

“Still, I envy those women for not caring. That seems so freeing.”

Claire sighs, looking a little defeated.

“But… as a woman in the workforce, looking young benefits me. The longer I can preserve it, the more prospects I’ll have and I can’t let go of that.”

“Whether you decide to play the game or not, you lose something either way.”

“How nice that men don’t have to worry about this kind of shit.”

More to come.
