A woman who’s been struggling to keep on top of her bills has set out a small wail this morning, after one of her mates invited her to a birthday dinner with a set menu.
Anita Breckinridge, a 29 year old marketing coordinator from Betoota Heights, tells our reporter that she’s seriously considering becoming a social hermit after receiving her third invite to a set menu dinner in just two months.
“Fuck me, I hate to sound ungrateful for having friends, but god they’re expensive”, says Anita, with a defeated sigh, “between set menu dinners and weddings, I’m getting absolutely reamed.”
Anita says these types of invites seem to always land right after she’s forked out a lot of money paying bills – or in her most recent case, seeing a endocrinologist and gynaecologist back to back.
She’s also starting to wonder if she might be the token ‘poor friend’ of the group, considering so many of her mates seem to have job titles she doesn’t understand.
“Could you they not have their birthday dinner at some cheap thai restaurant with BYO?”, she grumbles, “what’s wrong with Thai Riffic in the CBD?”
“$20 green curry WITH rice. BYO or $7 Changs.”
“Can’t beat that.”
More to come.
