Philanthropic mining magnate Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest issued a direct threat this afternoon after being asked, for what he says is the fifteenth time today, whether his cream suit was inspired by HBO’s The White Lotus.

The rather uncharacteristic outburst occurred during a Q&A session at the Global Resources Future Summit at Perth’s Convention Centre, where Forrest was fielding questions about decarbonisation, net zero, and other minor distractions from his main message, that he still runs the show.

According to onlookers, a reporter (a male in his mid 40s with a ponytail) from the Bunbury Voice asked Forrest if his outfit choice was a nod to actor Walton Goggins’ character in White Lotus, who famously dons a near-identical cream linen ensemble while pouting through a Thai resort.

Forrest did not take kindly to the question.

“I’ve been asked that 15 times today. The next person who says it is getting punched in the head,” he said.

“And I’m not getting my bodyguard to do it out the back beside the bins. I’ll get up and do it right here right now,”

“Go on ponytail boy, ask me again.”

The threat, delivered with a polished grin and hands folded in lap, was met with nervous laughter from the room of junior analysts and investment bankers who weren’t sure if he was joking. But Twiggy’s raised eyebrows all but made it clear that the next person to speak was going to be jumped.

This left our reporter itching to raise their hand.

More to come.
