It turns out that demanding female voters either get back in the office – or back in the kitchen – is not a very wise approach to take to a Federal Election in 2025.

Also, Nuclear power doesn’t seem to be very popular amongst Australian voters.

The Federal Opposition has absolutely done their arse overnight – and are now staring down the worst election result in Australian history.

All of the Teal Independents held their seats in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne – with yet another Climate 200-backed local candidate picking up the last ‘blue ribbon’ seat in Sydney’s north.

The Liberals have also slid backwards in NSW and Victoria. While Queenslanders revolted against their own and booted 6 LNP members into early retirement.

The Liberals now have zero presence in Adelaide, or Tasmania – once again taken an absolute hiding from the Western Australians.

The Coalition needed to pick up 19 seats to form government. They lost 14.

With 14 seats still in doubt, Labor has more than double the Coalition so far claiming 88 seats. They only needed 76 to form government. The Coalition will be lucky to pick up 40 at this point.

It’s no longer a conversation about what went wrong for the Coalition – but more a discussion about whether anything went right.

With a shrinking membership base that is increasingly detached from real life, the Australian voters have made it clear that they do not give a shit about all that rubbish that the far-right media commentators of Sky News carry on about every night.

The Liberal Party now has to make peace with the fact that nobody wants to buy what they are selling, and they really should spend less time making noise about Aboriginal flags and Chinese war ships.
