Australian taxpayers have put forward a radical idea of creating a Canberra bubble for our politicians to exist in after the return to parliament was cancelled due to the recent spike in coronavirus cases.
The concept was put forward by the Royal Society of Taxpayers (RST) this morning as they released research conducted by their group into the proposal.
“The idea of creating a ‘Canberra bubble’ might seem crazy as people come and go from our nation’s capital every day every week,” they said.
“It could lead to the spread of coronavirus around the nation as people come from all corners of Australia to work and do business in Canberra. However, we could simply create a bubble, keeping people in and keeping people out,”
“Politicians and their staff could stay in Canberra and do their jobs. Parliament shouldn’t be cancelled because of coronavirus. If the economy is too important to shut down, politicians can go to work.”
The Advocate has reached out the Prime Minister’s Office for comment but nobody is there at the moment and the phone rang out at his more modest one in Sydney.
Opposition leader Anthony Albanese said he supports going back to Canberra as he’s got ‘fuck all else on right now’.
“I miss cooking my own chops at the Kingo,” he said.
