The Prime Minister, locked out of Queensland and the AFL Grand Final, is set to reconnect with his roots at the only sporting final he’s able to get to this weekend.

From a private box, Scott Morrison will cheer on the ACT Brumbies against the Queensland Reds tomorrow night at Canberra Stadium as they look for their first domestic rugby champion crown.

As an affable GPS schoolboy, the Prime Minister played a decent standard of rugby at Sydney Boys High and was known to many as a solid middle-order batsman.

It’s a combination that found him well, where in the years before becoming the Member for Cook, Scott Morrison said he was more of a rugby fan than a rugby league fan.

But as the trials and tribulations of being The Shire’s man in Canberra started to take hold, it became easier for the man now known ScoMo to blend in with his constituents by buying every piece of Sharks kit in the merchandise stand.

It’s been years since the old Scott Morrison, the shawksbuckling Bronte boy with dreams of being the next Ken Catchpole or Mark Ella, was last seen in public.

Tomorrow, we’re going to see him.

More to come.
