The release of the Royal Commission’s findings into institutional child abuse within the Catholic Church in Ballarat has outlined Cardinal George Pell knew abuse was going on under his authority but elected to do nothing except shield the perpetrators from justice and lie.
That’s lead to the Royal Commission to conclude that Pell, who was released earlier this year after having his own convictions for child abuse quashed by the High Court, is human garbage and should be treated as such.
The commission found Pell knew of allegations of offending in the Ballarat diocese as early as 1973.
Specifically, the reason why Father Gerald Ridsdale, one of the nation’s most notorious pedophiles, was being moved from parish to parish.
Pell explained to the Royal Commission that he didn’t know why Ridsdale was being moved, however, these fresh releases from the Royal Commission say otherwise.
Speaking to The Advocate this morning, a retired local court magistrate explained to our reporter that the evidence is clear cut.
“This is what I’d call a pretty open and shut type scenario,” explain Magistrate Peter Collins.
“It leaves no doubt that Cardinal Pell, as a human being, is garbage. Despite what happened. Despite anything that will happen in the future, history will remember the Cardinal as a coward,”
“There’s little more to say.”
More to come.
