The head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) has today gone on record to warn the country about the potential threat of a radicalised minority.

Director-General of Security at ASIO Mike Burgess, has explained to The Advocate his concerns around the flow on effects of changes to Australia’s Superannuation system.

Burgess says he’s strongly concerned by the threat that wealthy boomers pose to society, if the government starts taxing their super fairly.

Burgess’s comments follow the heating up of a public debate around changes to super, that would see an additional tax rate of 15 per cent on superannuation earnings from the portion of an individual’s account balance over $3 million at the end of a financial year. That’s in addition to the current 15 per cent tax on concessional super contributions.

Those changes, which were where actually proposed in 2023, have seen major newspapers owned by billionaires and run by millionaires claim that the move is an attack on average working Australians.

That’s despite 99.5% of Australians NOT having over 3 million in their super, and 97% of Australians projected to never have over 3 million in their super at any point in the future.

However, despite the actual effect on the tiny majority of the richest Australians, the media class have attempted to turn it into an issue that normal people should care about.

“Unfortunately, the radicalisation of the small minority of wealthy boomers effected has been severe,” said Burgess.

“It’s well documented the damage Sky News can do to a geriatric’s brain, and now when they think they are having everything taken away from them, it can be even more dangerous.”

“So we are working with counter terrorism experts to try and counter that.”

“And we are tracing the phones of people who have triple enlarged font.”

More to come.
