FOLLOWING COMMENTS SHE MADE on the Today Show this morning, the Nine Network has announced plans to put Sonia Kruger ‘out to pasture’ on Sky News until she retires.
The Toowoomba girl called for Australia to stop taking in Muslim migrants, citing a recent article by News Corp columnist Andrew Bolt, which linked terrorism in France to the nation’s intake of Muslim migrants.
Known as one of the last conservative backwaters on the Australian media landscape, the news network was a joint venture between Murdoch’s Sky, Stokes’ Seven and Packer’s Nine Networks which was found for this very reason – a dumping ground for the most conservative and racially provocative shock jocks in the country.
Now the 50-year-old mother of one is set to join their ranks.
Sky News enjoys a wide and popular following, with nearly every woollen-jumper-wearing-rugby-dad on the eastern seaboard tuning in each day. They’re the types who have the confidence to self-manage their super funds – knowing full well that they don’t really need super anyway.
However, being a woollen-jumper-wearing-rugby-dad goes hand in hand with being uncomfortable around brown people.
“We’re very excited to have Sonia join us in the coming months, she’ll fit right in here,” said news director Marshall Wallace-Kelly.
“Working out of the Norwest Business Park in Sydney can be challenging though for some of our employees. There’re lots of people here who work up here, who only a generation ago, would be making a living by picking up plastic bottles on the shoulder of a Pakistani highway. Now they’re software engineers,”
“I think that’s great. Power to them, but a lot of my staff that get sent here from the commercial networks are physically repulsed by them. Look, I’ve got a fucking mortgage like everybody else. If I have to wrangle racist and intolerant media personalities to keep a roof over my family’s head, then so be it.”
Kruger is expected to debut her new overnight Sky talk show, The Sonia Kruger Factor last this year.
Is Kruger self-taught like Bolt? (see Archibald article – btw chances are Hanson is as well). Maybe Kruger is lining herself to take over from Pauline???
