The only country in history to have used atomic bombs has dropped a socially acceptable bomb onto Iran, to stop them from potentially building their own atomic bomb.

Last Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump intervened in the conflict between Israel and Iran by launching coordinated airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities.

This was due to intel that suggested Iran was close to developing their own nuclear weapons.

Before this, Israel had launched a surprise attack targeting key military and nuclear facilities in Iran, who in turn, launched missiles at Tel Aviv.

It is unknown, for certain, if Iran was building weapons of mass destruction, or if so, how close they were.

Though Trump was quick to call it a victory, it is now believed that the airstrikes did not destroy Iran’s ability to create a nuclear weapon but instead set it back a few months, as Trump’s compulsive tweeting may have given Iranian officials enough time to move to another site.

As of writing, the U.S. remains the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons in war, having dropped two bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

The devastation was so horrific and long-lasting, it led to the creation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 1965.

Those who signed agreed to never acquire nuclear weapons, unless of course, they already had weapons, than that’s fine.

Luckily with the latest airstrikes, Iran’s chance to continue making the nuclear weapons they may/may not have been building will be set back a few months, and the world can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that only stable, peaceful countries such as the United States, Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, India, North Korea and Israel have access to these kinds of weapons.

More to come.
