Just days after the 2025 Federal Election, Australians are now coming to terms with a vastly different political landscape.
With theatrical wins and losses right across the electoral map, the one state that did not disappoint is Queensland.
And just rugby league, Queenslanders love pulling off an upset. Especially when they’ve been written off by the media.
With seven Labor women elected in Queensland, the match was over before 930pm.
This new Queensland Labor spine includes: Emma Comer (Petrie), Kara Cook (Bonner), Madonna Jarrett (Brisbane) Renee Coffey (Griffith) Julie-Ann Campbell (Moreton) and the Most Valuable Player in Ali France (Dickson)
The interchange bench includes Senator Corinne Mulholland.
While this result shocked the southern pundits, it is exactly what can be expected from Queenslanders when they have their backs against the wall.
In fact, it’s not the first time that Queensland has flogged the blue side so badly that they leave them psychologically scarred for over a decade.
The Liberal Party will now waste an entire generation of talent on back to back losses, as an record-breaking dynasty emerges north of the Tweed.
The media will continue to pump up the blue side’s chances every time they face off with the Queenslanders, only for their demoralised supporter base to be left even more heartbroken every time.
The blue team’s powerbrokers and veterans will continually point to a lack of depth and creativity amongst the new recruits, while the selectors replace every losing captain with an even-less experienced alternative in a vain effort to give the media and fans a quick sugar hit.
This losing streak could last up to eight showdowns in a row, and the Queenslanders will grow even more flashy and obnoxious with every blow-out victory.
