‘Are we really doing this again?’ Is what every resident of Australia’s major city is thinking after new lime green bikes have started popping up at random across the city.
The latest share-bike, Lime, is hoping to succeed where its predecessors, Ofo and Reddy Go, miserably failed. They’re hoping that by being power-assisted and also offering scooters people might actually use them.
According to social data, the nation cares just as little for these bikes as they did the other stupid bikes, with many citizens already picking out what bodies of water they are going to throw the bikes into.
“Whatever is closest,” said one man.
“They’ve bloody made them heavier, so I can’t put it up a tree, I’ll have to use it as a sinker on my yabby pots” said another.
“I’ll take one to bloody California and chuck it in the bloody harbour there, when will these people get the message? We don’t want bloody bikes!”
We’re awaiting reports from to see what the real reactions of citizens are and whether the bikes went directly to the bottom of the ocean or they got to clock up a few K’s first.
The Advocate has reached out to the San Francisco start up but are having some communication issues as their AI assistant is having trouble understanding our thick Queensland accent.
It’s not yet known why the San Francisco company thinks the obnoxious lime green bikes will succeed where others fail, time will tell.
