Nationals Senator Matt Canavan has today reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Coalition’s nuclear energy push, by smearing what appears to be uranium across his face, it’s reported.
In a Facebook selfie that features an unsettling green glow and what looks suspiciously like early-stage facial decay, Canavan declared that while he’s “backed coal in the past,” he’s now “100% on board with the future of nuclear energy in Australia.”
This comes just shortly after Canavan said that the party will be dumping its net zero energy policy and no longer “turning the volume down”, as well as sticking to their original objective of representing the type of Australians who ‘shower after work.’
However, if this is referring to blue collar workers who accumulate a bit of sweat by the end of the day, it’s unsure how replacing coal with nuclear with help the average worker, given a university degree is required to become a nuclear technician.
Canavan appears to have mixed opinions on nuclear power in the past, having both consistently voted in support of nuclear energy whilst stating that a mixed balance of energy types is needed.
But appears that Canavan is now wholeheartedly backing nuclear.
The Advocate reached out to Canavan for comments, but it’s alleged he hasn’t been heard from since updating his Facebook this morning.
More to come.
