A local Wollongong man has spoken to The Advocate about his emotional state following State of Origin last night.
Ousley Tarrawanna explained to us that he has a weird empty feeling after the historic victory at Lang Park.
The 18-6 victory which very well could have been 30 or 40 to 6, was the second straight win for the Blues at Fortress Lang Park.
The win of course sees NSW take a 1-0 lead in the series, which the stupid Southerners think wraps up Origin.
That sentiment has been echoed by Tarrawanna, who says he really wants to see Queensland bounce back.
“Honestly, for the sake of the game, we need a strong Queensland,” sighed Tarrawanna.
“Origin is strong when Queensland are strong, and as much as we hate losing to them, we really need a competitive Queensland.”
“Last night Queensland didn’t even throw a punch.”
“They scored a single try off the back of a lost ball on our own line.”
“And it never felt like they were winning, on home soil, in front of their rabid fans.”
Tarrawanna said that has him concerned for the future of Origin.
“I honestly think that if this series continues the way it has, we need to consider a promotion relegation system.”
“Potentially bring New Zealand for a year, or maybe we try like a Pasifika team.”
“Because what Queensland are bringing to Origin right now, just isn’t up to scratch.”
More to come.
