One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts is touring regional Queensland this parliamentary winter break in a coal-powered chariot to educate people on the many benefits of the popular fossil fuel.

While Senator Roberts does have access to a diesel Toyota Land Cruiser, the Indian-born coal proponent explained to The Advocate that he wanted to make a point.

He joined our reporter at a roadhouse near Mitchell, where he was observed eating a plate of bacon and eggs with a spoon.

“I want to show people that coal is safe enough to be used to power a motorcar,” he said.

“Well, in this instance, a steam-powered race car. You see that thing out there? It can do 100 mph and it doesn’t burn a drop of petrol. Pretty incredible, isn’t it?”

Senator Roberts awkwardly began chopping a fried egg on toast in half with the blunt spoon.

“It doesn’t have any airbags, and it doesn’t have a radio. Or power steering for that matter. No roof or other left-wing modcons. Just you, the road, and the coal. Well, you do have a boiler that’s at something like three, maybe four hundred PSI. If I crash this thing, I’m probably going to die,” he said.

The Senator then spooned a length of bacon into his mouth.

“You see, electric cars just don’t work out here. What are regional people supposed to do? Drive these stupid electric cars around and trade their coal mining jobs for one where you just pop about on a quadbike with a squeegee, cleaning solar panels? Fuck that. There’s only 20 million of us, Australians do fuck all for climate change in the scheme of things. I suppose we export it, that’s what we need to do to fool that Albo over.”

“Until they offer people in Regional Queensland a better option than just ‘go and get fucked,’ I’ll be driving my steam car.”

The Senator then offered a spoon with a quartered piece of toast with some egg on it to our reporter.

“Eat this.”

More to come.
