In some lighter news, a passenger princess has today revealed that not having a driver’s licence actually comes with quite a lot of perks, as she’s never asked to lend a helping hand.
Unlike a few of her mates who own cars, Leah Hobbs, 28, has never had to give anyone a lift or to be the designated driver, or to help someone move house.
In fact, she reckons that if you live in the city, it’s actually pretty stupid to own a car.
“I actually feel sorry for my friends who own a vehicle, especially if it’s a ute”, says Leah, “if you live in a busy city and own a car, you’ve pretty much painted a target on your back.”
Leah admits that in the past month alone, she’s been driven home twice, had a mate help pick up kerbside furniture, and went on a three hour trip out of time where she simply napped in the back seat.
“It’s great, I can’t even offer to drive part way through because I don’t know how haha.”
When asked whether being helpless is a good trait, Leah is quick to defend herself.
“Look, I’m great for the environment. The fewer people driving cars, the better.”
More to come.
