Local muso/visual artist Chet Streeton has revealed this week that he’s very much looking forward to hearing all of the alternative career options his extended family will suggest at this years Xmas gathering.
“It’s really great that they look out for me like that”. smiled Streeton.
“I love hearing about which industry is paying well, which one is currently looking for workers. good times”.
Streeton’s mother, Adalita, also enjoys having Chet’s involvement in the conversation.
“He really enjoys the special time” she said.
“And I love hearing his responses to questions like ‘have you thought about a trade?’, or ‘did you see they’re looking for staff at Nando’s?’, or his favourite, ‘why don’t you try out for the Voice?’
When asked which suggestions were his were strongest, Chet said that his Aunty Delta put forward a good case about the decrease in ridicule toward male nurses and that his Dad said he’d let Chet paint him for the Archibald prize.
Although his favourite piece of advice came last year from his Uncle Xavier, via Skype, from an undisclosed location.
“He basically said that the best way to get money as an artist is to completely abandon your values. Then he started chanting like a native American, something about the sacred Dirty Bird.”
