Landlords and rental agents across the east coast have rushed to block their tenants from all forms of communication ahead of a wet and windy week.
Meteorologists are calling the oncoming storm a “bomb cyclone”, adding another new word to the vocabulary of the weather watching community to describe a heavy downpour.
Following the news, landlords across the east coast braced for their annoying tenants calling them to complain about leaks, mould, flooding and broken roofs.
“Best to just block their numbers until this rough weather passes, they’ll take the hint” explained Greg Huntsman (65), a Sydney landlord.
Despite thousands of tenants being blocked by their landlords, the effects aren’t really being noticed by them.
“Ha! You think I would ask my landlord for help? it’s not 2003, I know how this game works..” said Rowan Gaully (32), a long time renter.
While renters continue to not put a lot of hope in their landlords meeting their obligations, that doesn’t mean they aren’t preparing for the faux-cyclone.
“Sandbags are ready, we’ve got the pots out to collect the leaks and even have some candles in case we lose power, the gaping hole in the roof at the back of the house is a little annoying, but we’re used to it” explained Rowan.
Meanwhile, several property managers have updated their voicemail greetings to simply say “Due to extreme weather, we are out of office”
