Canberra Raiders star Josh Papalii is hopeful outgoing US President Donald Trump will pardon him over a 2017 drink driving conviction in which the prop reportedly dobbed on himself to police.
Speaking to our reporter this afternoon via telephone, Mr Papalii said he will be happy either way.
“I think it would be a nice gesture from America,” said Papalii.
“From that time, I have changed and grown quite a lot and I think I deserve a second change. I would also like to be immune from minor vehicular offences moving forward. There are just so many idiots on the road,”
“Not many people can say they have been so pissed that they called the cops on themselves. It shows that even when your mind is sullied, you are still a good and rightous person.”
It’s understood by The Advocate that Mr Papalii is not seeking a pardon for a similar incident where the prop is alleged to have thrown a one-litre bottle of Palmolive moisturiser at another motorist.
