Israel has today moved to clarify what the world was calling a ‘major escalation of the war.’
Speaking exclusively to The Betoota Bugles’ News and Bros podcast, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained why he is moving to occupy Gaza City.
Netanyahu said that he is sending in the troops not only to ‘liberate the people of Gaza from Hamas’ but to make sure that the tonnes and tonnes of aid sent by the world, actually get to the people of Gaza.
“It’s shocking to see that aid not getting through, so we are moving in to make sure that people get what they need,” explained the leader of a nation that seems to shoot at least 20 or 30 people trying to stop themselves dying of starvation at the scarce few aid points every day.
“And we need to liberate the people by moving in.”
Netanyahu and the security council had reportedly been keen on occupying the entire region of Gaza.
However, a top military official had apparently slammed the move claiming that it would create ‘a black hole of insurgency,’ which analysts say has slightly tempered the impending military action.
Various governments around the world have of course ‘strongly pleaded’ with Israel not to move on Gaza.
However, the clarification that it’s just to make sure the aid they’ve been blockading gets in, has now set everyone at ease.
“Trust me, we are trying to help the people of Gaza,” said Netanyahu.
More to come.
