The dystopian reality of technology in 2025 is in full effect as a local woman has been locked out of her hi-tech toothbrush after forgetting her log in details.
Samantha Green (31) has this week been reminded of just how bleak things have become, after being locked out of her smart toothbrush for forgetting the log-in.
The Bondi based marketing coordinator had reportedly purchased the Bluetooth-enabled brush late last year after a TikTok influencer claimed traditional brushing was destroying her teeth.
Now, in order to clean her teeth, Samantha must first pass a two-factor authentication process, facial recognition, and accept cookies.
“I just wanted to clean my teeth” said a panicked Samantha, while refreshing her inbox for a password reset link that never arrived.
After incorrectly entering her backup PIN three times, the device locked her out for 24 hours and began flashing red.
The toothbrush company, which claims that their bluetooth and cloud connected device makes brushing a breeze, says the strict log-in details are worth the hassle for the users security, especially the important data which they sell to other dental companies.
Her desperate call to customer support ended with a chatbot named “Mandy” suggesting she “factory reset her device”
“I’ve now resorted to using one of those free toothbrushes from a hotel in 2016. It’s basically a prison shiv” said Samantha.
Despite the trauma, Samantha remains hopeful she’ll regain access by the end of the week.
“All I need is my old SIM card for the phone number i used to sign up last year, I know it’s around somewhere”
